# IP Field Type

Xyicon Administrators

Use this article to learn how to use the **IP** field type.

## Before you begin

- Only **Xyicon Administrator** can create fields.

Use this field type to input IP addresses. In addition to the common properties, this field type has an additional property - *IP Version* – to select between IP address version 4 and version 6.

## Steps to Create an IP Type of Field

1. 2. Under **Settings**, click on the desired Module.
3. Click on the **Fields** Tab.
4. Click on **(+) Create** to create a new field.
5. In the **Create New Field** Panel that opens, give a name for your field.
6. Click on the drop-down in front of **Field Type** and select **IP**.
7. Select either **IPv4** or **IPv6** from the drop-down in front of the **IP Version** property.
8. Optionally, turn on **Display On Links**, provide a **Field Description**, and add **Helper Text** as needed.
9. Click **Create** to create your new field.
