Add or Edit a Field

Fields can be customized to fit your information and data needs. SpaceRunner comes pre-populated with commonly used fields, but you may choose to edit or delete these fields or to add your own.  The fields display both on the Xyicon Editor and the Quick Edit panel.

Add a Field

  1. Click Fields  on the Main Menu. The Fields Grid opens.
  2. Click the + sign in the upper right corner. The Create Field screen opens.
  3. Type the Field Name into the text box.
  4. Choose the Type (see Field Types below) from the dropdown box.
  5. Assign the field to a Class. The default is to have the field show up on every class, but you may adjust this by using the radio buttons and check boxes.
  6. Click SAVE.

Also see About Fields

  • Boolean: A true/false datatype. Requires a caption value to be added to represent True and False when the caption for that field is used on a Space. An example field name could be "Mounted to Wall" with a True value of "Wall Mount" and a False value of "Not on Wall", which will show in a Xyicon's caption when that field is selected.
  • Date: Displays a Calend ar picker to choose the date.
  • List (Single Selection): A dropdown datatype. In addition to a Field Name, you will need to enter a list of values for users to select from. This field type allows for users to assign one value selected from the list.
  • List (Multiple Selection): A dropdown datatype. In addition to a Field Name, you will need to enter a list of values for users to select from. This field type allows for users to assign multiple values from the list at a time.
  • Text (Single Line): The most common datatype. This is a free-form text field that displays one line of text.
  • Text (Multiple Line): This is a free-form text field that allows multiple lines of text, such as those used in Notes fields.
