This article explains how email notifications are triggered when a user is assigned to a xyicon or boundary object using a Single-select People Field.
This automation ensures that assignees are immediately notified when a xyicon or boundary object is allocated to them.
Before You Begin
Ensure the following conditions are met:
A Single-select People Field has already been created for xyicons or boundaries.
Automation has been enabled for that specific People Field (backend configuration required, reach out to your Xyicon administrator).
Multi-select People Fields do not support email automation.
How to Trigger an Email Notification
Open the relevant xyicon or boundary object in either List View or Space View.
Click the object to open the Details Tab.
Go to the Single-select People field and click the dropdown.
Search and select a user.
When assigning a user for the first time or changing the assignment from one user to another, the newly assigned user will receive an email notification with the following details for each object:

Once the user clicks the View Xyicon/View Boundary button, it redirects to the object’s Details Tab.
IMPORTANT: If the assignee has not signed up for the organization, they must first sign in to the application.
