Changing a Boundary's Type

Use this article to learn how to change the boundary's type for a selected boundary in the BOUNDARIES module. When you change the boundary's type, the list of fields also changes to reflect the new boundary type. If the new and old boundary types have common fields, they will remain, and the rest will be removed. However, the fields and data will remain intact so that in case you revert the boundary's type to its original type, the fields (and data) are restored.

Merged Boundaries

If you change the type of a boundary that contains merged boundaries, Xyicon will apply the change to all connected merged boundaries.

Before you begin

• Make sure you have set up the following module settings for the Boundary module under Xyicon Settings (   ): Boundary Types, Boundary Fields, and Boundary Layouts.
• Verify your Xyicon User has the necessary permissions to change a boundary type. User permissions are managed by your organization's Xyicon Administrator.

Steps

1. Go to Main Menu ( )> BOUNDARIES module to view the boundaries for the active portfolio.
2. Select the boundary for which you want to change the boundary type.
3. Click the Side Panel > Details tab ( ) and click the Type field to see the list of available boundary types. Alternatively, you can click on its Boundary Type in the table itself to do the same. If Boundary Type Column is not visible, you can change your view or add the column to your current view.
4. Select the desired type from the dropdown. You will be prompted to confirm the action.
5. Click Change.
