Locking and Unlocking Objects in the Space View

Prev Next

Switch to V5 to access this functionality.

This feature allows you to secure the placement of xyicons, boundaries, and markups in a Space View, preventing accidental movement or rotation. This feature introduces object-level locking, enabling you to lock a specific xyicon, boundary, or markup without locking all objects of the same type.

When an object is position-locked, its coordinates are protected, maintaining the accuracy of the space.

Once this feature is applied, the object cannot be moved, rotated, or edited in a way that would affect its position. Additionally, the object remains locked for the entire organization across all views.

You can lock:

  • A single object

  • Multiple objects

  • A mixed selection (xyicons, boundaries, and markups together)

Locking Objects

  1. Open the Space View for the relevant space.

  2. Select one or more objects (xyicons, boundaries, markups).

  3. On the Action Bar, click on the more icon () and click Lock Position.
Or use Shift+L to lock the selected objects.

When locked, a visual indicator appears in the bottom-left corner upon hover and selection.

NOTE:

For position-locked xyicons, the following functionalities will be restricted:

  • Rotating

  • Changing properties from Details Panel (Position and Rotation)

  • Flipping - Horizontal and Verical

  • Unplotting

  • Cannot embed a position-locked object within another object.

  • Cutting

For position-locked boundaries, the following functionalities will be restricted:

  • Rotating

  • Editing

  • Cuting

  • Changing properties from Details Panel (Position and Rotation)

For position-locked markups, the following functionalities will be restricted:

  • Rotating

  • Editing

  • Cuting

  • Changing properties from Details Panel (Position and Rotation)

Unlocking Objects

Users who have edit permission for the object types are only allowed to unlock any locked objects.

  1. Select the locked object(s).

  2. Open the toolbar or context menu.

  3. Click Unlock Position.

Or use Alt+Shift+L to unlock the selected objects.

The object returns to its normal editable state.
