How to: Register family types into Xyicon

Use this article to learn how to get started with leveraging the power of Xyicon's Revit add-in family-type registration for your BIM workflow. Using this feature, you will be able to seamlessly register Revit family types as Xyicon catalogs and synchronize data to facilitate better data reporting to stakeholders.

Registering your Revit families as catalog items in Xyicon is a crucial step in leveraging the powerful and easy-to-use modeling capabilities within Xyicon. Xyicon's Revit Add-in allows users two ways in which they can quickly start registering their family types, i.e., Quick Family Registration and Advanced Family Registration.

Before you begin

Before getting started with family-type registrations, you need to make sure that you have:

  • Logged in to the Revit Add-in.

  • Registered your primary model as a portfolio using the Registration tools Portfolio.

Steps

  1. Access the Xyicon Revit Add-in by navigating to the Xyicon tab in the ribbon bar.

  2. From the ribbon bar, select Advanced Family Registrations, which is available under Registration tools.

  3. Select one or more records from this window.

  4. Select the Register button from the action bar at the bottom of the window to register your Family types as Catalog items in Xyicon. If you need to deregister any families select the needed records and select Deregister from the same action bar.
