Article summary

        Xyicon Users

Use this article to learn how to create links between xyicons using a Lookup Field. A lookup field allows you to "look up" other xyicons based on their attributes. For example, using a lookup field, you can link a Person xyicon to a Computer xyicon by looking up a person's name (attribute). Another advantage of using a lookup field is the ability to link xyicons that belong to different spaces.

You can easily identify the lookup field for your xyicon by the Lookup Field indicator(    ) on the Details tab (    ) of the XYICONS module or Space Editor. At present, this feature is only available for single-line text fields and does not support linking to xyicon ports.

Before you begin

  • Make sure that you have created Fields and assigned them to relevant Types under the Xyicons module in Xyicon Settings ( ).
  • Make sure the field that should function as a Lookup Field has the Display on Link and Lookup Link properties set.
  • Verify that your Xyicon User has the necessary permissions to update xyicons.

Module settings and user permissions are managed by your organization's Xyicon Administrator.
